The Founders’ Story
Five years ago, four friends from IIT Kanpur—Shashwat Narhatiyar, Chaitanya Dhawan, Saurabh Sharma, and Shaswat Kar—experienced the sting of urban loneliness. Despite being surrounded by people and connected online, they yearned for meaningful friendships. This realization sparked an idea: to create a platform where people could connect face-to-face over shared hobbies.
The Concept Takes Shape
The friends started hosting casual weekend meetups in a Gurgaon apartment, where they gathered for activities like football, board games, and music. The success of these offline gatherings inspired them to launch Misfits in 2022—a platform that empowers individuals to join or start local hobby clubs and meet like-minded people in real life.
The Team Behind Misfits
Shashwat Narhatiyar, now CEO, brought his expertise from product management roles at Delhivery and Edelweiss. The other founders contributed their passion for community and technology. Together, they built Misfits organically, without paid ads, achieving remarkable growth:

- 40+ active clubs
- 3,000+ real-world meetups in Delhi NCR
Funding and Expansion
In May 2025, Misfits secured ₹5 crore in seed funding from Info Edge Ventures and Better Capital. This investment will enable the platform to expand its reach and bring real connections to more cities.
